  • Q: By when do participants need to register? 

  • A: Register no later than February 28th. 

  • Q: How will participants get to and from Killeen, TX? 

  • A: Reserve air travel to and from the Killeen-Fort Hood Regional Airport (GRK)

  • A: Plan air travel to arrive at the airport no later than 4:00PM on Sunday, May 14th and depart Friday, May 19th. 

  • Q: Where should participants report when they arrive? 

  • A: Check-in at the Courtyard by Marriott (1721 E Central Texas Expy, Killeen, TX 76541) between the hours of 12:00 PM and 5:30PM.  

  • Q: When will participants eat? 

  • A:  The first event meal will be dinner on Sunday, May 14th at 6:00PM in the hotel conference room.

  • Q: How can participants best represent Habitat AmeriCorps and Veterans Build Repair Corps?

Habitat AmeriCorps-specific FAQs 

  • Q: How will participants get to and from Killeen, TX? 

  • A: The travel guidance document on Community explains that host site managers will reserve travel for their AmeriCorps members and request reimbursement from Habitat AmeriCorps for that cost. Any travel that will cost more than $400 must be approved by habitatamericorps@habitat.org before booking. Additionally, any deviation in travel from member’s home of record to the event and back again must have the approval of their designated Habitat AmeriCorps program staff member, i.e., their partner engagement specialist. 

  • Q: How will AmeriCorps members record hours on their timesheets? 

  • A: Members will record hours during which they are actively engaged in the event. They will record hours spent in building activities under their normal, everyday, AmeriCorps position. Hours spent in workshops, plenaries, or professional development opportunities should be recorded as training. 

  • A: Members may record the actual hours spent traveling to and from Killeen on their arrival and departure days up to a maximum of eight hours.
